Chapter 1
“Chris wake up!” My brother, Jackson, shook me. I moaned and turned on my side. I did not want the nickname Chris. I was a girl, not a boy.
“Christina, it’s choosing day. Get up.” Jackson said. I reluctantly turned over and got out of bed. I was 14 with auburn hair and gray eyes. I lived in a place call Land of Life. We call it Life for short. In Life there were different sections or “sectors” as the government called them. The different sectors were: Peace, Bravery, Love, Intelligence, Selflessness, and Giftedness. Every year the government would gather the group of 14 year olds and hold a ceremony for them to choose which sector they would move to. My parents wanted to me to stay in a life of love or move to peace. But I wanted to be in giftedness. That was the only sector where all the other sectors virtues were combined. So I would be in Bravery, Love, Peace, Selflessness and Intelligence. But if you choose that they hold a special testing to see if your worthy of their group. So as you can imagine many try out and few get in. Today I had to try out. I lived with my parents in the peace sector. I got on my normal clothes and went downstairs for breakfast.
“Good morning Chris.” My dad said. I smiled and grabbed some toast.
“Love you guys, Im off to testing.” I said.
“Remember you have to test for all but don’t forget that you want to choose either Peace or Love.” My dad said smiling at me. He turned to my mom.
“Yes. Don’t forget, follow what is in your heart.” My mom paused, “Which is Love or Peace.” She concluded. I smiled and hugged them. She eyed me when my dad wasn’t looking before I left.
“ Follow what’s in your heart.” She mouthed. I turned and left. What did she mean? Was she telling me to follow my heart for real? Why would she tell me that? By the time I was done thinking I was at school. I waited in line for testing schedule. I finally got it. My first test was Bravery, then to Intelligence, Peace, Love, Selflessness, then I signed up for Giftedness. I walked to Bravery testing. I sat in a waiting room with 25 other kids. They started calling kids up. One by one kids would walk in and out. Some of the kids would walk out happy and giddy, some kids walked out sad, some kids didn’t walk out. But worst of all 3 kids came out shaking and screaming on stretchers carried by paramedics.I was worried. I was 13th in line.
“Christina Stone?” The lady called out. I gulped and walked in.
“Hey I’m Nikki. I am the bravery test administrator. Please stand over there.” She said in a light feathery voice. She pointed to a target.
“In front of it?” I asked. She nodded. I shrugged off my fear and stood in front of it. She smiled and walked over about 20 feet away from the target. She looked at something on the table. She picked up a knife.
“Are you going to throw that at my head?” I said astonished. She nodded. She grasped the knife and flung it at my head. It landed right above my head.
“This is crazy! Is this bravery? I can’t flinch but I can’t stand here. I have to do something.” I thought as the knives continued zooming past my head. I swallowed knowing what I was about to do would be brave but stupid. I locked my eye on the knife in her hand and watched as she let go of it aiming to my right ear. I flung my hand out at the perfect moment and caught the knife by the handle in my hand.

Prologue
It all started that one night I went out with Cat. I had just gotten my new convertible and my license so we went to the beach for the night. We had a bonfire but then he showed up and ruined everything. Now I’m stuck like this. Confused, forever. At least I have Cat.
My name? Amanda, I am 15 years old with jet black hair with brown dip dyed tips and very light blue
eyes. This is my story.
Chapter 1
“Amanda!” A voice called out. I groaned and turned over. I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar room. I looked around, worried. I only saw one other person in the room with me. It was my friend, Cat (Short for Catherine), and she was sleeping on the bed next to mine. I tried to think of what had happened. Then it hit me. I had just gotten my license and my parents bought me a new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder in white. So to celebrate Cat and I went to my families beach side mansion for the weekend (Yes, mansion my family is rich.) We set up a bonfire when the sun started to set and that's when he came over. He was about 6 feet tall with brown short hair and with green eyes. He started talking to us and we were ignoring him and then he knocked us out somehow and when I woke up I was in a different room and he was biting Cat, I tried to scream for help but something told me no one would hear me. That’s when he came over and the last I felt was a sharp pain in my neck. I tried to get up but I couldn't find the strength. I fell back onto my pillow and fell asleep.
“Amanda!” A familiar voice yelled. I opened my eyes to see my brother, Jackson (who was also a police officer), standing above me.
“Amanda? Can you hear me?” He asked, worriedly. I nodded, not finding my voice to be usable at that moment.
“Don’t worry we’re taking you and Cat to a hospital. Just hang on.” He said as the paramedics picked me up and put me on a stretcher.
“There seems to be signs of massive abuse. It seems the person has bit them several times and bruised them.” I heard a paramedic tell my brother.
“Did he rape them?” My brother asked, his voice cracking.
“We can’t tell yet.” That’s when I realized I was just in my bra and underwear. I wanted to tell them that I was 90% sure he didn’t rape us. But I blacked out before I could.
